NIGHT SHIFT

EDUCATION / EQUIVALENCY:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IS, or job related degree
OR 4 years of combined related education Associates in above field and related work experience 
OR extra 4 years job related experience (Total 8 years of related work experience)

CANDIDATE TECHNICAL BACKGROUND:
-- Candidate must have strong working knowledge of Batch Processing --- specifically proper use and structure of Job Control Language (JCL) in an IBM Mainframe environment.  
-- Any experience with CICS or non-host development and/or support would be considered a plus

DAILY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility is to provide on-site support for our Production and Test Batch Cycles.  This includes monitoring jobs, resolving abends, engaging application on-call staff when necessary, communication of status to management, and escalating as necessary to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.  

There are also additional responsibilities related to triage of Non-host issues and production validation checks to ensure high profile applications are functional and available for customer use.

SYSTEM(S) THE CONTRACTOR WILL INTERACT WITH/BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Will interact with practically all systems that support our Commercial and Tricare business. (i.e. Claims Adjudication, Membership/Enrollment, Billing, Pricing, Interplan Processing, Provider Information, Informational Reporting, Authorizations, Data Warehouse, etc.

PRIMARY WORKING RELATIONSHIP(S) INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION:
Will primarily be working with other technical staff within the Systems Support team or within the Application Development teams.  There will be interaction with management and Sr. Management as needed to escalate issues and report on status of daily cycles.

WORKING HOURS/CONDITIONS:
This is a 4-on / 4-off Night Shift position that works 10 hour shifts.  The hours are from 4:00PM until 2:00AM.  The 4-on / 4-off means that you will be required to work weekends and holidays if they fall on your 4-days on scheduled shift.
DO NOT submit anyone that does not want to work this shift.

TEAM SIZE:
This position will typically work with a team of 6-7 people onsite on a nightly basis. There is considerable team work required as other teams are engaged to research and resolve problems.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
(25%) Perform/Support installation, configuration, administration, implementation, scheduling and/or tuning/modification of applications. Provide support for moderate to complex system/production performance concerns. Collaborate with various internal groups and external vendors to ensure all specifications are met and problems are resolved as they arise.

(25%) Assist in analysis of problems/issues. Perform corrective actions whenever possible to fix applications that end abnormally and/or notify technical support for resolution. Communicate with applications on-call persons to repair applications that ended abnormally.  Consult with senior level peers on projects of greater complexity.

(15%) Evaluate system performance in real-time as well as via reports for release related issues.  Monitor and report on scheduled batch and online applications for successful/unsuccessful execution. Review all abnormal results/issues to production processing from previous cycles and verify that they have been logged/resolved. May run necessary system backups.

(15%) Verify Production and Test environments are up and functioning properly. Perform testing responsibilities as need. Review and/or create documentation for accuracy, future problems, and company standards.

(15%) Participate in work sessions and walkthroughs for quality and production implementations, releases, data conversion projects and/or disaster recovery exercises. Attend implementation meetings to determine impact to system availability and assignment of team resources for these implementations.

(5%) Look for improvement opportunities in the cycles and in procedures. May create new programs to automate the release process where possible. Assist and provide recommendations in applications enhancement projects."
