Ecommerce Director Job Summary:

Director of Ecommerce will have responsibility for the strategy, operations, and performance of DTC site. You have demonstrable and successful hands-on experience of the elements associated with a profitable e-commerce operation. You understand how to influence others and actively collaborate with cross-functional partners in key supporting organizations to optimize the customer experience and our own processes while developing insights that will drive profitable revenue across all digital channels.


Ecommerce Director Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership – Defines, creates and delivers the vision, business plan, roadmap, and key metric objectives for the expansion of e-commerce channel capabilities, partnering with other critical, supporting functions to ensure internal company-wide alignment. Leads a dynamic team across site merchandising, search, email and development.
  • Site Operations – Leads the day-to-day activities of running an e-commerce business, including web store enhancements, merchandising/assortment plans, marketing/promotions, inventory management, and analytics.
  • Direct day-to-day e-commerce business, including achieving top line sales/bottom line targets, overseeing key performance indicators (e.g., traffic, conversion, AOV) and optimizing P&L/budgets; monitor and provide tracking/reports, as needed
  • Manage site refreshes and development, including optimizations, site content strategies, execution of seasonal launches and online promotions new features/enhancements and merchandising improvements (e.g., A/B testing, personalization) to maximize conversion
  • Manage responsibility for site operations, long and short-term strategy, planning and implementation
  • Omni-Channel Coordination – Interacts with and coordinates multiple business functions to incorporate e-commerce activities and requirements into essential DTC business functions
  • Performance Marketing – Leads Performance Marketing strategy (i.e. paid search, email, social, etc.) in coordination with in-house team and external agencies. Responsible for digital merchandise and digital marketing coordination around key initiatives and product.
  • Analytical Acumen – Track and manage business KPIs to achieve e-commerce channel growth goals including Net Revenue/Sales, Gross Margin, Traffic, Transactions, Units, AOV, Conversion, Repeat and New Visitors, product performance, promotion performance, etc. Provide daily, weekly, and monthly e-commerce reporting to leadership
  • Technology Experience – Directs, negotiates and informs business requirements of key technology partners/platforms; broad technological experience and hands-on engagement with industry-leading e-commerce platforms (i.e., Magento and Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
  • Thought-Leader – Develops new and creative growth strategies leveraging new platforms and partners to ensure continuous learning and new opportunities for heightened consumer engagement and sources of profitable growth
  • Model Communicator – Informs and engages company-wide leadership to provide continuous line-of-sight of e-commerce key initiative updates and performance metrics with sound, fact-based rationale for delivery; drives action and accountability based on insights.

 

Ecommerce Director Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, e-commerce, or a related area of study
  • Around 10 years’ experience in digital business, e-commerce, omnichannel retailing.
  • Experienced as a manager /Director of teams.
  • Experience with DTC brands and DTC ecommerce
  • Demonstrable ability to optimize e-commerce technologies and third-party platforms
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to interpret quantitative data sets, including a strong understanding of online metrics.
  • Able to manage significant, extended, and complex projects
  • Demonstrated strategic business planning, financial and resource management skills.
  • Experience with e-commerce and marketing solutions such as Magento, Bloomreach, Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment that requires the ability to multi-task and implement high priority initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships to achieve business outcomes.
  • Excellent people and project management skills, ability to structure work, and lead a diverse team of both internal, external, and peer resources.
  • Ability to translate technical details to leadership
  • Operate at a hands-on, detailed level in addition to strategic thinking
