The Release Manager is responsible for the Release Management Lifecycle which includes coordination, scheduling, and management of each release for the Stores Tech department.  This includes planned/scheduled releases as well as hotfix and large, non-routine type releases.  This position is responsible for ensuring all gating criteria has been met for each release and that the release is stable after deployment.

Management of the release calendar and ensuring teams/individuals are completing required tasks one time will be an area of focus for this role.  Each release could be viewed as a small project so candidates with project management experience are welcome to apply.  The ideal candidate will be aggressive, assertive, and outspoken when planning and coordinating each release.  Release schedule adherence will be a considered when evaluating performance of this role.

The Release Manager will also be required to develop, implement, and maintain the release process.


• Work with-in a cross-functional matrixed Agile environment Establish and maintain Release cadence and coordination activities across multiple teams and shared services

• Create and coordinate release schedules working with engineering teams and various stakeholders

• Ensure deployments are promoted and test activities occur within development environments in accordance with the release schedule and established framework

• -MUST be organized and aggressive with timeline measurement

• Work with teams to define or improve process for managing source code and merge strategy

• Handle release acceptance including business sign off to ensure timelines are reasonable and met

• Monitor the progress of the release and communicate on a regular basis to stakeholders, program leadership and overall release participants from within and outside the program

• Communicate that no additions are accepted to releases after they have been agreed upon, and hold tight to original stipulations put into place Understand the business impacts of releases when overseeing multi-faceted deployments

• Responsible for minimizing impact during deployments based on application information

• Manage large release deployments and be on call for scheduled changes to help resolve release issues that surface with a sense of urgency

• Participate in release planning, scrums, and other pertinent meetings related to releases

• Prepare and manage all release deployment artifacts for the successful implementation of the release


• Experience with Agile process methodologies

• Technical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills – ability to quickly identify, triage and facilitate remediate of release-level conflicts/issues

• Ability to assesses technical risk for complex issues and decide best course of action Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Detail-oriented with strong analysis, problem solving and critical thinking skills Direct, hands-on experience with release management tools Project Management experience a plus



Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, OR an additional 7 years of relevant IT experience
