Sr. Data Scientist Job Responsibilities:

  • Applicants will be expected to work with a diverse set of data sources, such as time series data, graph data, semi-structured and unstructured data, and build statistical/machine-learning models in support of on-demand, real-time analytic services.
  • The applicant should also have strong skills in explaining and interpreting the analytic models and outcomes in both research and application contexts.
  • Interacts with the development team and stakeholders to identify opportunities, questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
  • Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.
  • Researches, designs and prototypes robust and scalable models based on machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling to answer key business problems.
  • Build tools and support structures needed to analyze data, perform elements of data cleaning, feature selection and feature engineering and organize experiments in conjunction with best practices.
  • Work with development teams & business groups to ensure models can be implemented as part of a delivered solution replicable across many domains
  • Present findings to stakeholders to drive improvements and solutions from concept through to delivery.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field by continuous learning and proactively champion promising new methods relevant to the problems at hand

Sr. Data Scientist Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics; Master's or equivalent preferred, PhD is a plus 
  •  7+ years of IT experience, last 3+ as a Data Scientist o Computer Science, Programming skills, Probability and Statistics, Data Modeling and Evaluation, Big Data and Machine Learning 
  • Passion for data science, problem solving and the scientific method 
  • Prior experience with Data Analytics, Visualization, and BI tools, preferably to include Predictive, Graph, Spatial, Semantic 
  • Superior written and oral communication skills o In depth experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Predictive Modeling, Descriptive Models, Decision Trees and Artificial Intelligence 
  • Hands on technical skills with some of the following: Python (required), R, Apache Spark, Sci-Kit Learn, SPSS Modeler, Hadoop o Experience with large scale AI platforms such as Salesforce Einstein, Seebo, LivePerson, IBM Watson, Maana Knowledge Platform, Azure Machine Learning Studio, etc. is highly desired 

Sr. Data Scientist Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated history of driving and delivering analytics models and solutions
  • Deep knowledge of fundamentals of machine learning, data mining and statistical predictive modeling, and extensive experience applying these methods to real world problems
  • Strong skills in software prototyping and engineering with expertise in applicable programming and analytics languages (Python, R, C/C++) and various open source machine learning and analytics packages to generate deliverable modules and prototype demonstrations of their work
  • Desired interdisciplinary skills include big data technologies, ETL, statistics and causal inference, Deep Learning, modeling and simulation
  • Breadth of skills and experience in machine learning diverse types of data, diverse data sources, different types of learning models, diverse learning settings
  • Ability and inclination to work in multi-disciplinary environments, and desire to see ideas realized in practice o Familiarity of statistical tests, distributions, maximum likelihood estimator Data wrangling, data hygiene, and data cleansing techniques inclusive of deep learning and neural nets with model selection and sampling 
  • Proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, designing specialized database and computing environments, and communicating results
  • Demonstrated ability to propose novel solutions to problems, performing experiments to show feasibility of their solutions and working to refine the solutions into a real-world context
  • Business leadership, supervised and unsupervised professional aptitude
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Machine Learning pipeline - data ingestion, feature engineering, modeling including ensemble methods, predicting, explaining, deploying and diagnosing over fitting
