There is an opening for an experienced and ambitious Art Director for our client’s in-house creative studio located in Raleigh, NC. This position will be responsible for driving and delivering material produced by the creative studio to an exceptionally high creative level. Projects will require collaboration with in-house photo team, Marketing and Digital teams. This role requires an experience in and passion for marketing (print, catalog, email, OOH, social media, ECOM, experiential). The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and strong visual communicator who is able to manage and meet multiple deadlines. A passion for graphic design, photography and marketing within the fashion industry is vital.

SUMMARY:

The Art Director will ensure all collateral produced by the creative studio is underpinned by an ambitious and cohesive strategy through all brands and touch points. Design initiatives are briefed by the VP of Creative, the Director of Creative Operations and respective “clients” (other departments within the company), and the role will include ideation, conceptualization and execution of creative material for multiple campaigns. You will also be a part of the presentation of final projects to the creative team, other departments and executives. This position will oversee, inspire and motivate a team of designers and copywriters. It is essential that the ideal candidate can articulate design rationally, verbally and visually and has a proven ability to lead a creative team with a hands-on approach from briefing to final execution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the daily operations of the team in close collaboration with the Director of Creative Operations.
  • Push to create visually distinctive and engaging imagery and experiences for all channels while staying true to the company’s brand and DNA.
  • Articulate ideas and push to bring new ideas to any project.
  • Show effective interpersonal skills and thrive in a team oriented environment.
  • Insure all material from the Creative Studio meets and/or exceeds the expectations of the VP of Creative.
  • Insure that the creative output is in line with project objectives and there is consistency across all marketing touch points.
  • Oversee or working directly on photo shoots, special projects, seasonal line books, packaging, graphic design, catalog design, email campaigns, social media campaigns, web design, experiential design, social media posts.
  • Experience in print (catalog, print advertising, OOH), mobile-first digital creative (email design, social media design, web design) and art direction on photo and video shoots is a must.
  • Adapt and develop material to fit all channels when created by external consultants.
  • Partnering with channel stakeholders to create an on-brand communications for internal and external channels.
  • Manage the development of design projects day-to-day to insure they run smoothly, in collaboration with Director of Creative Operations.
  • Work closely with Director of Creative Operations in order to insure project deliverables meet deadlines and budgets, as well as creative standards.
  • Partner with the VP of Creative on the recruitment process for the design team to insure the team is balanced and equipped with necessary skills.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong planning, organizational, social and problem solving skills.
  • Able to successfully organize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment with superior detail to attention.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge, XD, Acrobat Pro and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Extensive knowledge of post-production (retouching, mechanicals, pre-press, press checks) in print and digital
  • A strong understanding of fashion, luxury branding, design and typography.
  • Knowledge of creative talent, agencies, fashion brands and other designers.
  • Strong communication skills in verbal and written with ability to interact with different departments on a daily basis.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related area is ideal but job experience and a solid portfolio is the most important.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a leader of designers and/or other creative teams.
  • Experience creating video content, editing and motion graphics is a plus.
  • Experience work on Slack and Asana a plus.
