Job Summary:

  • Own and manage product vision & strategy that ensures a market-leading position and alignment of product with key business outcomes. Define a product roadmap to iteratively deliver transformational programs. Expertly translate business needs into product requirements and design innovative solutions that are best in class.
  • Foster, build, and lead a team who are empowered to continually improve. Work directly with stakeholders to understand needs, gaps, opportunities, and develop product backlogs. Develop acceptance criteria and be the advocate of the product by communicating launches and educating stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining market-leading position of the product by monitoring competitor product features and understanding market needs to ensure product remains industry-leading and a market differentiator.
  • Build strong relationship with the business Sponsor and communicate the vision for the proposition to all stakeholders and team, based on customer insight and research.
  • Work with stakeholders to create and own product strategy and product roadmap that aligns with business strategy goals with a good understanding of product architecture and solution design.
  • Build a strong co-located team, set the pace and act as a model in the principles and ways of agile working. Enable the team to own and deliver the vision.
  • Foster a team environment (developers, quality assurance, business analysts) that is open, informed and empowered, in order to continually improve effectiveness and deliver value to the business.
  • Define a product development backlog including user stories, facilitating discussions on prioritization of releases and features. Facilitate and drive a test and learn approach with customers to the product development.
  • Agree with stakeholders the value targets for the proposition and prioritize the backlog and funding to achieve the agreed outcome.
  • Manage all stakeholders through effective communications and interactions to support effective decision-making and manage the smooth and integrated delivery of the product roadmap.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of proposition development and delivery – the Product Owner is empowered to make decisions on behalf of all stakeholders, creating a single source of opinion, and mandates the use of fact-based decision making where possible, to mitigate the impact of multiple opinions on design.
  • Determine, monitor, and review the products economics, including costs, staffing requirements, resources, and risk, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by appropriate reporting.
  • Identify, secure and manage resources to achieve delivery and organizational objectives in line with the product roadmap, approved funding and within expected quality and timescales.
  • Demonstrate compliance with agreed methodology, standards, policies and procedures to ensure strong governance, sharing knowledge and providing feedback and ideas so that performance is continually improved.
  • Take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner. Set team performance, create annual program goals, facilitate achievement of the same goals, and provide performance feedback for a team size of at least 6 - 8 people (developers, quality assurance, business analysts).

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in IT/business management
  • MBA/Advanced degree in business, leadership, finance, and/or business management preferred
  • Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO)
  • 5+ years of product owner / product management experience
  • 10+ years of leadership role experience
  • 10+ years of financial services / life insurance industry experience
  • 15+ years of business experience
  • Proven experience in product management, with a clear track record of shipping impactful, high-quality features and product capabilities.
  • Expertise in Agile Scrum, scaled agile processes and concepts
  • Consistent track record in understanding customer needs, working across a variety of functional teams, developing solutions, and launching complex products that impact growth
  • Ability to understand and breakdown complex problems and frame problems to create cross team alignment and effective solution ideation.
  • Innovative thinking and track record of delivering product experiences that delight users, optimize for conversion and overall make complex workflows seem easy.
  • Strong leadership and management skills - creates and drives strategic vision, mentoring and coaching of staff and continuous feedback and support
  • Proven solid written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate status and issues to executive management
  • Proven stakeholder management and ability to interact at all levels.
